HKR is an independent label founded by Justin Ludwig and Dylan Williams in 2008. Starting with the Amour Fou/Invasion split 7" and Molten Lava's LP Sevens and Nines in January 2009, the label has 33 releases to date, including 2 Shredded Wheat compilations. The label has been primarily operated by Dylan Ludwig for the past several years, following Justin's move to Vancouver. Most recently HKR co-released the double LP Rebels Sing: A Tribute to Todd Serious & The Rebel Spell with Not Yer Buddy Records and Rebel Time Records.
Coastal Frequencies is a 10-part live music web series that streamed in 2014-2015 on exclaim.ca. Each episode showcases performances and candid interviews from artists ranging from Fucked Up to Run the Jewels in concert in Vancouver. The series was co-produced with Prairie Coast Films.
ChristCORE is a feature documentary exploring the explosive subculture of Christian hardcore music, hitting the road, the pulpit and the mosh pit with two evangelical hardcore bands: newcomers Messengers and genre stars Sleeping Giant.
The award-winning film premiered at the Victoria Film Festival in 2013, and opened theatrically across Canada that summer, distributed by Films We Like. The film has screened at festivals across the world and made its broadcast debut on CBC Documentary Channel.
Award-winning feature film SuperGrid was co-written by Justin Ludwig, based on a story and original screenplay by T.R. McCauley. The film was directed by Lowell Dean (WolfCop), produced by Raven Banner Entertainment and Echolands Creative, and stars Leo Fafard, Marshall Williams and Jonathan Cherry. The film is slated for a December 2018 Canadian theatrical and VOD release after a fall festival run.
Kleins96 is a hardcore punk band from Regina, SK, primarily active from 2008-2013. Featuring Andrew Love on guitar, Justin Ludwig on bass and Dylan Ludwig on drums, the band released the Modern Fortune LP in 2010, as well as a CD EP in 2009 and split records with Tomorrow Start Today (2011) and Born Wrong (2012). Kleins96 shared the stage with Propagandhi, Lagwagon, Fucked Up, Ruiner, SNFU and DOA among many others.
Disintegration is a film and multimedia project in development, co-produced and directed by Sean Patrick Shaul and Prairie Coast films. The film tells the story of Meg Sharpe, leader of iconic Vancouver punk band Housewife, who rose to fame in the early 90’s but vanished mysteriously and was presumed dead by age 25. Disintegration is a mock-documentary, comprised entirely of archival material - tv interviews, music videos, home video and trial footage - created by the filmmakers for the project.
